About the Distracted Driving Prevention Presentations

In June of 2018, my husband was driving a tractor pulling equipment down a busy road.  He was senselessly killed by a driver who was intentionally using a cell phone instead of paying attention to their surroundings.  I was suddenly a single mom with four kids ages 3, 6, 9, and 8 months.

Presentations include background information on our family, as well as an account of the crash itself, and the aftermath.  I share information on our ongoing healing process, living life with purpose, and the dangers of distracted driving for everyone.

With 14 years of experience in education, I am able to hold the audience’s attention throughout.  Presentations last approximately 45 minutes but can be tailored to run longer or shorter based on your needs. All presentations require a computer, internet access, projector, and screen.

Feedback From the Presentations

My daughter saw one of your speeches at Marion Local. We have one of the fly clings in our van and it reminds me often to minimize distractions. My daughter will be getting her license in a month and we’ve discussed numerous times the importance of staying focused on the road. Lives can be changed in a matter of seconds and neither end of that change is pleasant, to say the least. Those actions can’t be taken back, so the only thing we can do is minimize the chances of it happening in the first place. Please keep up the efforts of educating our youth on the long-lasting devastation distracted driving can cause. As parents, we can speak about this until we are blue in the face, but when they hear it from someone that was directly impacted by a distracted driving accident…that is where it really sets in. That’s where the lasting impression comes from. That is what will make them think twice before picking up their phones while driving. God bless you and your family.

Before hearing your story I was one of those people who would sometimes text while I was driving, but only in situations where I thought they were safe, low traffic no hazardous weather conditions ect. After reading your story I realized no situation while driving is safe to text or be on our phones at all, nothing is so important that it can’t wait, nothing is worth taking someone’s life and leaving a family behind to grieve their loss forever; the reality is every time we pick up our phones while behind the wheel we’re making a selfish decision that could result in taking someones life. Thank you for helping me see the truth and for all the work you do to end distracted driving. Your strength to turn your tragedy into something to help others is admirable. Keep up the good work, YOU ROCK!!

I just wanted to say what an amazing presentation that you did at Anna High School. My son came home talking about it, he told me what all you have gone true and said that he would never look at his phone while driving. (He gets his permit Tuesday). That made my heart so happy.

I cannot thank you enough for coming to share your story and my heart breaks for you and the kids.

He came home and put my phone and his dad’s phone on no texting while driving. I really cannot thank u enough.
